Revive Rx Pharmacy Mixes up Labels for Diabetes Medication 

In April of 2024, it was discovered that Revive Rx, a compounding pharmacy in Texas, had mislabeled their 10-milligram sterile solution of Tirzepatide vials and their 2-milliliter multidose vials. Instead of the Tirzepatide medication, the vials held testosterone cypionate. Tirzepatide is the active ingredient in drugs like Mounjaro and Zepbound that are used to manage blood sugar levels and weight management in individuals with diabetes. These drugs act similarly to Ozempic and Wegovy, whose active ingredient is semaglutide. 

Due to Revive Rx Pharmacy’s negligence of delivering Tirzepatide vials that contained testosterone cypionate, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled the drug on April 20, 2024, as stated in the recall enforcement report. The drug has been subjected to a Class I recall, indicating that using the mislabeled drug can lead to serious health effects or even death. The recall is effective across the United States, as Revive Rx Pharmacy has a widespread distribution nationwide. This recall affected 751 vials of the medication and expires on September 24, 2024.
